Anthony Shue - Treasurer/Board Member

I am a proud lifelong resident of the community of Mauriceville. I began my career as a volunteer firefighter with the Mauriceville Volunteer Fire Department in 1997 and retired from the department in 2017. In mid 2017, I was asked to serve on the board for the department as a commissioner and have been serving in that position since that time. It has been my privilege to serve the community of Mauriceville and to work alongside the volunteers and the board of the department. During my time of service I have seen many great accomplishments for the community and the department as we have navigated to where we are today! During my tenure with the department, I served as a firefighter, assistant chief, and the last 10 years as the Chaplain of the department. It has been extremely rewarding being a part of the Community and the department, and we look forward in continuing to assist the progression in becoming a fully staffed department with full-time firefighters.

Meet Firefighter Jim Jones

I have been blessed to have been able to spend my entire life in military and public service accounting for 34 years with memories and experiences in both urban and rural service delivery models. My primary passions lie in the Fire and EMS arena, and I believe that it is our responsibility to invest in our future responders to ensure continuity of high-quality service to the communities we serve. As a career student, I enjoy teaching and learning through training programs for both Fire and EMS. I invest heavily in leadership development and am currently involved in both state and national level programs to invest in our future leaders in the industry. I joined OCESD4 approximately a year ago as a volunteer Firefighter/Paramedic and I consider myself fortunate to work with my fellow brothers and sisters serving this community. To recharge, I enjoy weightlifting, reading, and spending time with my wife and kids.

Meet Firefighter/Paramedic Sharon Patton

Sharon “took a semester off” to work on an ambulance and apparently found her calling, because she has been responding to emergencies in Orange County for the past 36 years. She currently works full time at Acadian Ambulance as a critical care paramedic, and is a member of several local organizations. She became a volunteer firefighter 8 years ago. Sharon now calls OCESD4 home and enjoys all of her brothers and sisters in red. Sharon has 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren. When she has time she enjoys traveling, scuba diving, cycling, running, and riding her Harley.

Meet Dual Service Firefighter Stuart Welch

Not only is Stuart Welch the Asst. Chief of SNESD#1/Deweyville Fire, but we are lucky and thankful to have him as part of our OCESD#4 family as well. He is devoted to the fire service and loves serving the community. Stuart is always ready and willing to answer the call, or just to help or encourage his brothers and sisters in the first responder field of service. He loves rodeo, fishing, and spending time with his wife Kathy, their children and grandchildren. Stuart also serves at the Cowboy Church of Orange County.

OCESD 4 Donates to Roganville VFD

OCESD 4 Gifts Old Tanker 43 to Roganville VFD

Last year firefighters from Orange County Emergency Services District #4 (OCESD 4) and neighboring fire departments battled a fire at J3 Metals in North Orange County, including the Roganville Volunteer Fire Department (RVFD), a small community in Jasper County. OCESD 4 Chief Kelly Moore (right) observed that RVFD was using a tanker truck for the 1980's and he told Roganville VFD Chief Mike Smith (left) that if OCESD 4 could ever help them, they would be glad to.

That help come on Friday September 13, 2024.

OCESD 4 was blessed enough to be able to purchase a new tanker allowing them to gift old Tanker 43 (T43) to the Roganville VFD. "It's been a great truck for us,' said Moore. "You do what you can to help other departments."

Chief Smith was ecstatic. "This is a great addition to our department. An 1,800 gallon tanker brand new would cost around $750,000 and we just can't afford it. We can't thank OCESD 4 enough." Smith said the tanker will go into service immediately.

OCESD 4 T43 has served the community for about 24 years and it is sad to see it go but hopes that she will serve the citizens of Roganville as well as she has served ours.

Meet Firefighter Tyler Brack!

I’m Tyler Brack, I have an amazing wife and three wonderful kids. I am a hard-working dedicated family man. I enjoy camping, golfing, and I cannot say this enough that I love being involved with the community by being a firefighter. I have recently joined OCESD-4 and not only have I learned how to become a great firefighter, I also have learned that we all are brothers and sisters helping to make our wonderful community stronger and making Orange a safer and better place. Meet Lieutenant James Thibodeaux

Hello, my name is James Thibodeaux. I am a dedicated family man, happily married to my wife, Melinda, for 15 years. We have two wonderful daughters, Regan and Crindon. I began my journey in the fire service with the Groves Fire Department at the age of 16 as a junior firefighter. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Since joining OESD 4, I've had the pleasure of being asked to start a junior program, aiming to provide young individuals with the same opportunities and experiences that shaped my career. The camaraderie and the privilege of serving our community are the highlights of being a member of OESD 4. Together, we can do great things.

David Jones - President of the Board

I began my career as a volunteer firefighter with the City of Pinehurst in 1991, eventually as a full-time employee and Assistant Chief. I stayed with that the City of Pinehurst until 2010 when we moved to the Mauriceville community and built our home. I joined the Mauriceville Fire Department and continued as an active fire fighter and Fire Chief until 2016 when I chose to join the fire board as a commissioner. I have been the board President since approximately 2017 and have enjoyed being a part of this department's development. We have been successful being stewards of the taxpayer’s monies while governing the fire department's growth. It has been extremely rewarding being a part of this department and look forward in continuing to assist in the positive evolution to eventually become fully staffed with full time firefighters. "Watch us as we strive forward to become one of the best community fire departments in the area."

Huge Milestone Reached for Orange County ESD 4!

Orange County ESD 4 to Hire Part Time Firefighters

During the Board meeting held September 10, 2024, the Commissioners approved Chief Moore to hire two part time Firefighter positions. This is HUGE for the community! Last month alone we answered 103 emergencies with volunteers. Having dedicated man power at the stations during the day will significantly increase the response times. In the future we hope to add more staff. This could not have been done without the support of the community!

Meet Firefighter/EMT-B Sara Moore!

Sara Moore has been a part of the fire service for eight years. She likes helping others and serving our community. She enjoys camping and fishing with her husband Kelley, and their children. Sara worked as an EMT with Acadian Ambulance for two years, and now works at St. Elizabeth hospital of Beaumont, Tx.
